DR. ROBERT BUIST - ACADEMY DIRECTOR

After receiving his honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of NSW and a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmacology/ Biochemistry from Macquarie University in 1974, he spent two years in New York State Health Department as a post doctoral research fellow. Dr. Buist's research has involved the synthesis of new bronchodilators for the treatment of bronchial asthma and thrombin inhibitors with the potential use in the treatment of vascular disease. He has several international research publications, is an Associate of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, Member of the Australian Association of Clinical Biochemists, Member of N.Y. Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the Australian College of Tropical Medicine and Fellow of the Australian Natural Therapists Association.

During the past two decades, Dr. Buist has also trained doctors, pharmacists, chiropractors, psychologists, naturopaths and other interested groups around Australia and overseas in Nutritional Medicine. He is presently conducts a Nutritional Clinic in Sydney. He is also best-selling author of three books, including The Cholesterol Myth, Pan Macmillian (1992).
