COURSE INFORMATION

This comprehensive 6 week distance education course is designed to improve the understanding and uses of nutritional products.

A COURSE FOR STAFF AND CUSTOMERS

There is presently an unprecedented interest in nutrition and health. Over 50% of Australians and Americans take nutritional supplements and scarcely a day goes by without another nutritional headline appearing in the newspapers.

Sales staff supplying customers with nutritional supplements and the customers themselves need to know which supplements are appropriate for their needs from the vast range on the shelf. Staff and customers need to know which vitamin or mineral supplement is the most suitable, which group of customers have special nutritional requirements, how long should customers take supplements, what is the maximum dosage, are there any adverse interactions with other tablets.

These and many other issues are raised in this home study programme aimed at training staff and customers to become fully confident in their knowledge of nutritional products.

The Course takes 6 weeks to complete, covers all aspects of nutritional products and is based on good science. There are two main parts to the Course. Six hours of lectures on CDs including a set of questions which are answered after listening to the tapes and a nutritional text and study guide, which covers all of the important aspects of nutritional supplementation and also includes a final test.

After successfully completing the Course, candidates receive a Diploma of Nutritional Products Information from the International Academy of Nutrition.

COURSE CONTENT

CDs

Dr. Robert Buist presents 6 hours of practical nutritional product information on CDs. He emphasises the key features relating to nutrition supplements including their uses, doses and side-effects, together with relevent, practical background information. Accompanying these tapes is a 100 Question Quiz which requires simple true-or-false responses, by ticking the relevant box. In this way we ensure that each student has actually listened to the CDs and understood the basics.

STUDY GUIDE AND TEXT

This comprehensive "guided study" programme includes a workbook which asks questions based on a Nutritional Medicine text.

After reading each chapter the student answers the relevant questions in the Study Guide and then checks the answers, which are given on a different page and makes relevant changes or other comments to help memory retention. After completing the Study Guide there is a Final Test, with multiple choice questions, which is sent back to the Academy for marking.

DIPLOMA OF NUTRITIONAL PRODUCTS INFORMATION

A Diploma from the International Academy of Nutrition will be received by each candidate who successfully completes the Course. The quizzes in the Course are not difficult, but will ensure that the requirements for the Diploma have been met. A second attempt will be possible for unsuccessful candidates.
